I’m a big romantic, a total softie. I cry at every wedding I shoot. And when we got married, we both agreed we didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony. There’s an old-fashioned streak in this boho girl after all. But, as planning progressed and we scheduled and spoke with our vendors, we changed our minds. We always encourage our couples to plan a significant amount of time for couples portraits. why.
1. You will be calmer
Weddings are stressful! I bet I don’t need to tell you that. All of that planning and dreaming and hoping, it all comes down to one, single day. It’s hard to keep that in focus as you’re choosing linens and flowers. By scheduling your portraits together before the ceremony, you’ll have a moment to see and experience the day just you alone, before the craziness begins. We ALWAYS shoot a first look reveal in order to capture the looks on your faces as you first see each other
2. You will have more time to enjoy your party
Scheduling your pictures as early as possible before things fall behind schedule leaves more time for you to enjoy that awesome party you planned. That way we can do the family group portraits immediately after the ceremony and you can all dance your way through the night.
3. You will look your best
Your dress will be unwrinkled. Your makeup and hair will be fresh. We pride ourselves on making every one of our clients look like a rock star, but give us first crack at you and you will not believe how amazing you will look. Having that time together also means you will have time to play and be spontaneous. That’s how the best pictures come about.
Of course we never force anyone to schedule their pictures before the ceremony. We completely respect your wishes and traditions. However, I was surprised to find how much it helped me enjoy the rest of the day. Seeing your partner before you see everyone else reminds you that you’re on this journey together and to enjoy every minute.
